KIRTON HOLME GOLF CLUB LOCAL RULES
- OUT OF BOUNDS & COURSE BOUNDARIES (Rule A-2.1 & A2.2)
“A Ball is out of bounds when it is beyond any of the following:-“
a) In or beyond any boundary ditch or beyond any boundary hedges and fences
b) Beyond any area defined by white stakes. Searching for balls out of bounds is strictly forbidden
C) Within the Clubhouse or the paved area surrounding the clubhouse
3. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24)
a) All artificial surfaces and constructed paths and bridges within the course boundaries.
b) All fixed course signage including tee signs
c) The shelter near the 6th tee.
d) Temporary hole covers
4. INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE
All wooden sleepers supporting the teeing areas. Free relief may not be taken, play the ball as it lies. Rule 28 applies.
5. PRACTICE GREENS
a) The practice putting green and all practice greens are integral parts of the
course on which practice is permitted prior to a stroke play competition
b) The practice putting green and other practice greens are wrong greens Rule 25-3 applies.
6. WATER HAZARDS (Rule 26)
a) Water hazards defined by yellow stakes
b) Water hazards identified by red stakes are lateral water hazards

7. STAKED TREES
When a player’s stance or intended line of swing is impeded by a staked tree, the ball may be lifted and dropped without penalty within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole, in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 24-2b(i). The ball may be cleaned when lifted.
8. GROUND UNDER REPAIR
Play is prohibited from all areas marked GUR, the ball must be lifted and dropped within one club length of the nearest point of relief. All areas marked GUR relief MUST be taken without penalty, Rule 25-1
9. FIXED SPRINKLER HEADS
All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under Rule 24-2.
In addition if such an obstruction on or within two club-lengths of the putting green of the hole being played intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may claim relief, without penalty, as follows;-
If the ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and is within two club-lengths of the intervening obstruction it may be lifted, cleaned and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay when a) is not nearer the hole b) avoids such intervention and c) is not in a hazard or on a putting green.
10. DISTANCE INFORMATION
For all play at this course a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measure that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (eg gradient, wind speed, temperature etc) the player is in breach of Rule14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.

Should be placed parallel to the line of play, flat, inside the bunker.
12. IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT
If any irrigation equipment intervenes within two club lengths on the line of play around the green, the ball may be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole
13. ACCIDENTAL MOVEMENT OF A BALL ON A PUTTING GREEN
Rules 18-2. 18-3, and 20-1 are modified as follows:-
When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1
This Local Rules applies only when the player’s ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental.
Note: If it is determined that a player’s ball on the putting green was moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause such as the effects of gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location. A ball-marker moved in such circumstances is replaced.
ADDITIONAL RULES *
(only apply when Winter Rules in force or temporary conditions prevail);
a) RUTS MADE BY TRACTORS/GREENS EQUIPMENT. Deep ruts made by tractors or other green-keeping equipment are defined by the Committee as ''Ground Under Repair"
b) AERIFICATION HOLES. If a ball comes to rest in an aerification hole, the player may without penalty lift the ball and clean it. Through the green, the player shall drop the ball as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. On the putting green, the player shall place the ball at the nearest spot not nearer the hole which avoids such situation.
c) PREFERRED LIES, A ball lying on a closely mown area through the green may be moved or lifted without penalty, cleaned and placed within six inches of where it originally lay but not nearer the hole (not in a hazard or on a putting green).
Before lifting the ball the player must mark its position. A player may move or place his/her ball once and after the ball has been so moved or placed, it is in play. Relief from a plugged ball through the green is permitted.
Penalty for Breach of Local Rule. Stroke Play - 2 strokes / Match Play - Loss of Hole.
